Letter to Eddie Bernice Johnson
Dear Congresswoman Johnson-
I have lived in the 30th District of Texas since 2002, and I have voted for you in every election since then. I am not registered to either party, but almost always vote for Democratic candidates and causes. I supported Barack Obama for president, and along with several friends, made the trip from Dallas to Washington D.C. to attend his inauguration.
If healthcare reform does not pass, I will not vote for any national Democrat who currently holds office again. The work has been done, and it is completely in the hands of the Democratic Party to pass the bill. Specifically, it is completely in the hands of the Democratic House to pass the Senate version of the bill, unchanged, and put it on the President’s desk.
If elected Democrats cannot pass the legislation they were elected to pass, there is no reason to support them. Majorities do not last forever, regardless of how eager to please and cautious they are. The Republicans have behaved atrociously over the past year, but the Democrats have largely thrown up their hands, as if there is nothing you can do.
But there is something you can do. PASS HEALTHCARE REFORM NOW!
